Each case study reflects our deep commitment to collaboration, honoring the partnerships and relationships we’ve built along the way. Lululemon Athletica Inc. (lulu)

lululemon is committed to standing for humanity, diversity, and empathy, without exception. As part of this commitment, the company has undertaken an Indigenous Exploration Phase, to better understand and improve its relationship with Indigenous Peoples and knowledges across Turtle Island. lululemon partnered with Tatâga Inc, an Indigenous Management Consultancy that specializes in helping companies navigate the complex and nuanced landscape of reconciliation.

Tatâga Inc. provided guidance and expertise on a wide range of Indigenous-related topics. They use storytelling and contemporary consultative approaches to help companies understand the past, present, and future of their relationships with Indigenous peoples and the lands on which they operate.

The Indigenous Exploration Phase was a comprehensive process that helped Lululemon gain a deeper understanding of the past, present, and potential futures of its relationships with Indigenous peoples and the lands on which it operates. Tatâga Inc provided valuable guidance and expertise throughout the process, and helped the company to identify key themes and areas for improvement. Using storytelling and contemporary consultative approaches, Tatâga helped lululemon understand the importance of reconciliation, and how it can be achieved. They also created recommendations for Lululemon on how to move forward in its reconciliatory journey.

The partnership between lululemon and Tatâga Inc is a significant step in the fashion retail industry's journey towards reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and knowledge. Tatâga Inc's guidance, expertise and contemporary approach helped lululemon to take a holistic and inclusive approach to reconciliation, and it serves as an example for other companies to follow. Lululemon's commitment to reconciliation is an important part of its mission to create meaningful and measurable impact to change people's lives for the better, for all our relations.

rKeepers 7 Strategy

Tatâga Inc. partnered with the RKeepers 7 Strategy, funded by the Building Safer Communities Fund and Public Safety Canada, and administered through Tosguna (Tsuut’ina Nation Police Services). The primary focus was to engage community members on intervention, prevention, and education, addressing challenges within and shared by community.

Tatâga Inc. collaborated closely with project manager Alyjah Ermine and the Tsuut’ina community. They designed and facilitated community engagement sessions, ensuring inclusive participation. Throughout phase 2 of the six-month project, Tatâga codified and analyzed the data and stories shared by community members. The team produced a final engagement report, a literature review, a community program eco-map, and other supporting assets.

The project was overseen by a steering committee composed of Tsuut’ina members and professionals, providing strategic direction and ensuring alignment with community needs and values. The outcomes of the RKeepers 7 Project have supported investments into community-rooted programming opportunities, addressing challenges within the community, and promoting health and wellness, particularly focusing on youth.

This collaborative effort between Tatâga Inc, Tosguna, and the Tsuut’ina community has laid a foundation for sustainable community development and resilience. The resources and insights generated from this project continue to inform and enhance community programs, fostering a healthier and more supportive environment for all members.

Pembina Institute

The Pembina Institute, a leading think-tank, engaged Tatâga Inc. to provide consulting services for a report on gender equity and energy transitions. The report aimed to explore how gender considerations can be integrated into energy transition policies and programs, and to provide recommendations for policy-makers and practitioners. Our team was asked to work with the authors to support the writing of the report in a good way.

Scope of Work:

  • Report Development: We assisted the Pembina Institute team in the outline development stage and provided thoughtful feedback, resources, and guidance throughout the writing process to ensure the report was of the highest quality. We helped the team to explore the intersection of gender equity and energy transitions, and to develop recommendations for policy-makers and practitioners.

  • Pre-publishing Support: We provided guidance and support in the pre-publishing stage, ensuring that the report was polished, accurate and ready for publication.

Outcomes: Our team at Tatâga Inc. had the privilege of working with Pembina Institute to develop a report on gender equity and energy transitions. Our approach to consulting is based on providing thoughtful feedback, resources, and guidance throughout the writing process. The final report provided policy-makers and practitioners with a deeper understanding of how gender considerations can be integrated.

Banff Lake Louise Tourism

Banff Lake Louise Tourism (BLLT) is a tourism organization that operates in the beautiful Minhrpa — Banff, and within Banff National Park in Alberta. Recognizing the importance of listening to local Treaty 7 Indigenous community members, BLLT sought out the expertise of Tatâga Inc., an Indigenous management consulting firm, to support the development of a strategy in partnership with other national and local stakeholders.

Tatâga Inc. proposed a comprehensive cultural awareness training program for dozens of BLLT members, including senior leaders, employees, and partners comprising of major businesses and organizations in Banff, Lake Louise, Canmore, and beyond. The training covered the ancestral and contemporary Indigenous experiences and knowledges in the region and the importance of building meaningful relationships with local Indigenous Peoples. Local Indigenous Peoples and experts shared knowledges, stories, and guidance to help educate learners.

Through this partnership, Banff Lake Louise Tourism has been and works towards providing a more authentic and respectful visitor experience while also supporting local Indigenous peoples and communities in the region. The collaboration with Tatâga Inc. has been an integral part of BLLT's strategic vision and has helped the organization strive toward a more equitable future.

Energy Futures Lab

Energy Futures Lab ("EFL") had the opportunity to work with Tatâga Inc, on developing a meaningful path forward with Indigenous Peoples. Tatâga Inc. proposed several key deliverables, including Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training for senior leaders, employees and contractors, collaborated on Indigenous participation in programming, and conducted an Indigenous Equity Audit and with the output of a 33-page report with recommendations based on the stories, experiences, and discussions shared in a good way.

Through this relationship, both EFL and Tatâga Inc. were able to gain greater insights and awareness into ancestral and contemporary Indigenous experiences and knowledges in Turtle Island, Denedeh, and Inuit Nunangat. Tatâga Inc's use of both quantitative and qualitative information, as well as consultation with Indigenous Elders and knowledge holders, allowed for a holistic and effective approach to collaboration on the program.

Overall, the relationship between Energy Futures Lab and Tatâga Inc was and remains a successful and meaningful one, allowing and striving for greater understanding and collaboration with Indigenous peoples and communities, leading to a more equitable and prosperous future for all.

The Outdoor Council of Canada

The Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC) is the umbrella organization for the Canadian outdoor sector. They engaged Tatâga Inc. to co-develop a strategic plan and deliver an education workshop for the OCC's governance body, key stakeholders, and partners involved in the Canadian Outdoor Summit. Tatâga Inc. was selected for our alignment with the OCC's goal of elevating Indigenous Peoples and promoting safety and support for all Peoples to be on the land.

Scope of Work: Tatâga Inc. provided the following services:

Strategic Plan Development: We assisted the OCC team in co-developing a strategic plan that would guide their journey in elevating Indigenous voices in the outdoor community.

Education Workshop: We delivered an education workshop for the OCC's governance body, key stakeholders, and partners involved in the Canadian Outdoor Summit. The workshop was designed to provide a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives and traditional knowledge, and how to integrate these perspectives into the outdoor community.

Outcomes: Through our mutual collaborations, the OCC was able to develop a strategic plan that guides its journey in elevating Indigenous voices in the outdoor community. Our education workshop provided the governance body, key stakeholders, and partners involved in the Canadian Outdoor Summit with a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives and traditional knowledge and how to integrate these perspectives into the outdoor community. Unfortunately, the summit was cancelled due to the weathering times of the Pandemic; however, the learnings and collaborations sparked a greater relationship between the OCC and Tatâga Inc.

Tourism HR Canada

Tourism HR Canada, Indigenous Tourism Alberta, and other stakeholders were in need of guidance to facilitate more meaningful conversations and dialogues surrounding tourism with Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous entrepreneurs. Tatâga Inc. was engaged in providing the necessary preparation, facilitation, and follow-up for these important meetings and storytelling sessions.

Scope of Work:

  • Necessary Preparation for Sessions (communication, writing opening, personal notes):

  • Leading the Conversations: Facilitation of six 1.5 Hour sessions over 3 days (dates to be finalized) with an arrival time of 0.25 Hours before each session: 13.5 Hours

  • Home Fire Meeting (Unpacking discussions): 0.5 Hours

  • Project closure and delivering final materials: 0.5 Hours

  • Total Hours: 14.5 Hours

Outcomes: As a result of our facilitation, the stakeholders were able to have productive and meaningful discussions, leading to a better understanding of the issues and opportunities within the Indigenous Tourism industry. As a result, Tourism HR progressed the conversations with Indigenous Peoples and stakeholders towards better understandings. Ensuring that Indigenous tourism operators and peoples' perspectives, voices and traditional knowledge are honoured and integrated is essential in this industry's development for the betterment of the Indigenous communities and Peoples.

Nisto

Nisto is an Indigenous and non-Indigenous led technology company that has created innovative social impact reporting solutions, which aim to empower organizations to have meaningful conversations about workforce diversity, social procurement, and Indigenous community contributions. The company was funded by Raven Indigenous Capital Partners and other partners and was looking for support in growing their business and operations. Their network includes leaders in business across the country all committed to working towards wellbeing in society. Tatâga Inc. was engaged to provide consulting services to help Nisto achieve their goals.

Scope of Work:

Operations Support: Provided guidance and support in the areas of finance, human resources, and operations management to help Nisto improve their internal processes and systems

Business Development: Assisted Nisto in identifying new opportunities and developing strategies to expand their market reach and promote their social impact reporting platform

Outcomes:

Through our support, Nisto continues to expand their business and improve their market presence. Our guidance in areas such as operations management and busienss development helped Nisto improve their internal processes and systems, making them more efficient and effective. Nisto's provides a platform that promotes meaningful conversations about workforce diversity, social procurement and Indigenous community contributions.
